Over the past week, the lights of Hanukkah shone brightly throughout Ukraine. Thanks to the heroic efforts of rabbis, staff, and volunteers in cities and towns across the country, the Jews of Ukraine celebrated the Festival of Lights surrounded by friends and family. Many Jewish communities braved the cold weather and the threat of attacks, to host outdoor candle lighting events, giant Hanukkah billboards, and festive gatherings with food and fun! Families appreciated the food parcels we delivered, with treats for the children, as well as the gift boxes with menorahs, candles, and colorful information booklets. As the crisis continues, with air strikes and power outages, it is more important than ever to remind the Jews of Ukraine that they are not alone and not forgotten. Celebrations of Jewish heritage and traditions reinforce the bonds that have been critical in helping people survive the past nearly 4 years. We continue to do all we can to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the Jews of Ukraine.
We appreciate the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication of everyone supporting the people of Ukraine, both those who are toiling inside the country as well as those making financial contributions. Together we save lives and restore hope.
