All across Ukraine next month, homes will shine bright for eight days as people celebrate the festival of lights. In the cold and dark of winter, children's smiles will warm people's hearts as they play games, open presents and enjoy delicious treats. At a time when many families cannot afford food or essential winter items, we are bringing them everything they need for a happy holiday, so they can enjoy a brief respite from the stress and strain of the ongoing conflict.
The war in Israel has shifted many philanthropic efforts from Ukraine to Israel, significantly reducing financial and in-kind donations. We stretched our resources more than ever to purchase food, treats and gifts for 50,000 Ukrainians who count on us for their survival. Last week a truckload of chocolate coins and specialty muffins arrived from Israel, with much much more yet to come.
With your help, every Jew in Ukraine, from the very young to the very old will enjoy a joyous Hanukkah, celebrating the miracle of light and the triumph over our enemies thousands of years ago. We continue to save lives and restore hope.
