Last night Ukraine suffered some of the worst attacks of the ongoing crisis. At least 25 people were killed, including three children, in a drone and missile attack on a residential neighborhood in the western City of Ternopil. The strikes left another 73 people wounded, 15 of whom were children.
Two other western regions of the country were hit, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, and a drone attack targeted three districts in Kharkiv, wounding more than 30 people. Buildings and cars were set on fire as a result of the strikes.
The tragic situations are made even more complicated by the disruptions to the power supply throughout the country, leaving people in the cold and dark. Transportation and other infrastructure systems were damaged as well, creating significant obstacles for rescue efforts. First responders continue to search for people who may be buried under rubble in several of the areas that were attacked.
The leaders, staff, and volunteers from JRNU are working closely with first responders and local officials to provide assistance as needed, to those who are directly affected as well as the larger community. Together we save lives and restore hope.
