This evening and tomorrow we will observe Tisha B’Av, the saddest day on the Jewish calendar. We will mourn the destruction of the Holy Temples in Jerusalem, other tragedies that occurred on this date in history, and the continued challenges facing Jews around the world, including in Ukraine. For the past 4½ years, the people of Ukraine have endured loss, pain, fear, and anxiety on a regular, if not daily basis.
As we mourn the difficult events of the past, we remain optimistic about the future. We are grateful for the many blessings bestowed upon us, including the opportunity to help and support those less fortunate who are struggling mightily, by providing for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
On Tisha B’Av, and every day, we pray for the safety and well-being of people in Ukraine and throughout the world. We are grateful to our generous donors who make our work possible, and our staff and volunteers who give of themselves selflessly, to save lives and restore hope.
