Another school year in Ukraine has concluded, celebrated by the traditional “Last Bell.” Shlomo Wilhelm, Chief Rabbi of Zhytomyr and director of the local Jewish school reflected on the moment and expressed gratitude to all our supporters:
To My Dear Friends and Partners:
After a difficult, sleepless night, accompanied by heavy bombing throughout Ukraine – including in the city of Zhytomyr – we are ending a fourth year in which our precious children live in a reality of war that has become routine.
And yet, amidst all the hardship, the children were able to finish another year at the Or Avner Jewish School. They arrived tired, but with smiles on their faces, with a sense of satisfaction and joy – for the achievement, for belonging, and for the very possibility of learning and growing even in times like these.
Deep gratitude to you – for your partnership, for your support, for the goodness and light you bring to our lives. Thanks to you, we are able to give children hope, strength, and faith in a better future – days of tranquility, security, and peace.
Thank you very much and Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm
