The people of Ukraine are reeling from the deadliest attack on Kyiv in nearly a year. Missiles and drones struck at least 13 locations in the city, killing 12 and injuring more than 75 people, according to early reports. First responders are searching through rubble for anyone who may be trapped; additional casualties may be discovered. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of everyone impacted and to all of the people of Ukraine who continue to endure so much.
The dedicated leaders, staff, and volunteers of JRNU remain steadfast in our commitment to support the people of Ukraine, including providing for the medical needs of children.
Maxim and his family were displaced from Mariupol; they now live in Kyiv. Sadly, his father died, and his mother is raising their two children alone. We were pleased to provide glasses for Maxim, allowing him to see clearly, feel included, and more fully participate in class and in life.
Karina lives with her mother and sister in Cherkasy. We were pleased to provide her glasses to address her myopic astigmatism, a condition that blurs her vision up close and far away. With her new glasses, Karina can see the world more clearly and enjoy a better quality of life.
