More Tragedy In Kyiv: The Help Continues

SEPTEMBER 8TH 2025

Over the weekend, Ukraine sustained the largest air assault yet in the ongoing conflict. The attack that continued for hours struck a residential building in Kyiv, killing at least three people including a mother and her infant son. More than 20 people were injured in the tragic assault, and many others are still missing. Additionally, the main government building in Kyiv was destroyed in a blazing fire.

In one Kyiv apartment building struck by a drone, a 55 year-old man was trapped under rubble in his bedroom, and a young man who moved from the eastern part of the country lost his wife and child. The losses are unspeakable, and the attacks are unrelenting.

Our humanitarian aid efforts continue and are more important than ever. We are providing crisis support to those affected by the recent tragedies, and we continue to provide food, clothing, and other aid as well. In Kyiv, we sustain more than 150 people with hot meals on a daily basis, and many more come for the Shabbat dinner. Food packages are distributed regularly, and special High Holiday boxes are on the way that include special items such as honey cakes from Israel. Children are fed and cared for at our schools where they remain from 8:30am until 5:00pm. Some of the kids have no food at home and depend on the three hot meals we serve as their only source of nourishment.

Our leaders, staff and volunteers work closely with local residents in Kyiv and around the country to ensure we are meeting the most critical needs efficiently and effectively. Together we save lives and restore hope.
