The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 is 'bridging generations,’ a reminder to all of us that the responsibility of remembrance does not end with the survivors—it lives on through their children, their grandchildren and all of us. In Ukraine, where more than 1.6 million Jews died in WWII, including more than 33,000 in just 2 days (September 29-30,1941, at Babyn Yar), the tragedies of Holocaust live on amongst the survivors and their descendants. The current ongoing crisis has reignited painful memories of trauma, fear, uncertainty. The elderly and vulnerable have suffered for nearly 4 years, and their situation has worsened over the past month with intensified attacks and extensive power outages. The historically cold winter weather has created perilous conditions for millions of people, thousands of Holocaust survivors among them.
Our emergency large scale humanitarian aid efforts continue, ensuring no one is forgotten and no one is alone.
As Eli Wiesel said, “Whoever listens to a witness becomes a witness.” Let's all listen and never forget.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
