Winters in Ukraine are generally harsh, but this year has been exceptionally cold, and the power outages have been the longest and harshest yet. Temperatures in many parts of the country often drop to -10 degrees (F) at night and hover around 8 degrees (F) during the day; it has been the coldest winter in more than a decade. More people depend on us for aid than ever before, and we are doing all we can to meet the needs.
Recently we purchased industrial generators to power community centers, schools, and other buildings. We installed new units in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Uzhhorod. In addition, we continue to supply families with winter essentials including firewood and vouchers for heating bills, in Berdychiv, Odessa and many other cities.
The Jews of Ukraine face unimaginable trauma, stress, and fear, on a daily basis. We are doing all we can to provide food, medical care, medicine, and other essentials. Together we save lives and restore hope.
