Four Years of Assistance

FEBRUARY 25, 2026

Four years ago, as rockets, missiles, and bombs descended on Ukraine, our humanitarian aid work began. Synagogues and community centers were transformed into emergency command centers, and a 24-hour hot line was established in Israel. Communications channels were created throughout each community to ensure that no one was left behind.

Rescue operations began immediately. Senior citizens and families with small children were evacuated to safety as plans were being executed to support upwards of 40,000 people.  Trucks loaded with food, medicine, water, blankets, baby supplies, and emergency equipment were dispatched across the country. Emergency vehicles transported people out of danger zones while local leaders delivered aid to those stranded in isolated areas, sometimes walking long distances where roads were impassable.

Thousands of refugees arrived at border crossings, exhausted and traumatized. We built temporary aid stations offering hot meals, blankets, mobile phones, assistance with documentation, and accompaniment for children separated from parents. At the same time, many families were flown to Israel where they were provided temporary housing, basic supplies, school enrollment, medical care, and emotional support.

The orphanages in Zhytomyr and Odessa were both evacuated, the former crossed into Moldova before flying to Israel. The Odessa orphanage travelled by bus to Berlin where they expected to stay for a few days or weeks at the most. They spent an entire year in Germany before they could safely return home.

Four years later, our work continues. The requests for assistance are increasing with each passing day, and thanks to our generous donors, thus far we have been able to meet the need. Together we save lives and restore hope.
