Food For The People Of Ukraine: More Critical Than Ever

SEPTEMBER 12TH 2025

Food is largely unaffordable for a significant portion of the population, especially those near the frontlines, due to disrupted supply chains, damaged infrastructure, high inflation, and scarce economic opportunities: shelling, unsafe roads, and closed supermarkets are a part of daily life.

Many Ukrainians are forced to make difficult choices including cutting back on meals or buying less nutritious food--fruits and vegetables are particularly expensive. Parents sacrifice their own meals so their children can eat, or they go into debt to buy food.

Five million Ukrainians are still living as refugees in Europe, while another 3.6 million are internally displaced. Many of those who stayed or returned have lost their homes or live in damaged buildings. Opportunities to earn money are limited. With high inflation and unemployment across the country, food security is a serious issue. For the past 3 ½ years, we have been feeding people in cities, towns, villages and outlying areas all across Ukraine. We regularly distribute food parcels with essential items, in addition to operating soup kitchens, delivering hot meals and issuing grocery store vouchers. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure people do not go hungry--from the very young to the very old. We appreciate the generous donors around the world who make our work possible, ensuring no one is forgotten and no one is left behind. Together we save lives and restore hope.
