The conditions in Ukraine remain dire. People are suffering with lack of food and other essential needs. Millions have been displaced from their homes, staying in temporary quarters or living with friends and family. Attacks continue in many cities, sending people running for bomb shelters and enduring power outages that last for many hours and even days. The anxiety, fear and stress make life unbearable at times, particularly for parents of young children and the elderly.
As final preparations are underway to make Passover in Ukraine a very special time, reinforcing our support and solidarity for the Jews of Ukraine, the critical humanitarian aid work continues. In Cherkassy, Sumy, Poltava, Kryvih Rih, Kyiv, Uzhorod, and Zhitomer, we are feeding the elderly nourishing hot meals. We are providing vouchers in Kyiv, Chernivtsi, and Lviv to ensure people have much needed heat in their homes before the warmer Spring weather arrives.
Working with our extensive network of medical and mental health professionals, we are arranging critical treatment for children of all ages. Families have no means to pay for the costly services needed to ensure children are able to grow and develop, attend school, and participate in daily life.
