Recently, the Kedem Community of Kyiv gathered to celebrate a new Torah scroll donated to them by Itzhak and Natalia Solonik, in memory of their late mother, Chaya Gila Solonik, of Blessed Memory.
The afternoon event was well attended by community members, local rabbis, guests, and invited dignitaries. Rabbi Pinchas Vishedski, leader of the Kedem community noted, “While the people of Ukraine, including members of our community, continue to live with uncertainty and anxiety, this celebration served as a source of joy, encouragement, and hope for better days, filled with renewal and excitement.”
The highlight of the ceremony was the writing of the final letters in the Torah scroll, followed by a procession through the streets of Kyiv. The community gathered back at the synagogue where they danced and enjoyed a festive meal. Rabbi Vishedski and other speakers offered words of blessing and appreciation to the donors of the sacred scrolls, JRNU, and to all those who continue to support the Jews of Ukraine.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
