Attacks on Kryvyi Rih Damage Rabbi’s Home

JANUARY 30TH 2026

An air raid on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih damaged the home of Rabbi Liron Edri, the leader of the local Jewish community. Fortunately, Rabbi Edri was out of town, but the security guard on duty was wounded in the attack when his hand was hit by a piece of shrapnel. Damage to the home and adjacent buildings, including the recently renovated mikvah, were extensive:

“The entire front part of the house blew up,” said Rabbi Edri, adding that windows, doors, the parking area, and the ritual bathhouse were all impacted by the strike.

Rabbi Edri was out of town when the attack occurred but happened to be on the phone with his staff at the moment the building was hit: “I heard the explosions on the phone. It was terrible,” he said.

Thankfully, no one else was injured besides the security guard, but the property damage was extensive, dealing a severe financial blow to a community struggling from repeated attacks over the past nearly four years.

We are grateful for the safety of Rabbi Edri, his family, and the rest of the community. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured security guard, and for an end to the ongoing crisis.

Together we save lives and restore hope.
