The children of Ukraine continue to face great hardships as the war approaches the 45-month mark. Parents struggle to provide sufficient food, shelter, and other necessities for their families. The situation is particularly difficult for the millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes and relocate to other cities, towns, and villages in Ukraine. Our leaders, staff, and volunteers work hard each and every day to help these families who are very much in need.
Vanya and his mother fled Mykolaiv in the early days of the war and settled in Odessa, at least for now. Despite the difficulties of moving to a new city and enrolling in a new school, Vanya maintains a positive attitude and bright smile. With a love for drawing and technology, he dreams of becoming an engineer when he grows up.
During a medical examination in Odessa, doctors discovered issues with Vanya’s feet and posture. We arranged for treatment by an orthopedist who recommended a course of physical rehabilitation, including exercises and massage. Vanya is undergoing rehabilitation at the Odrex Medical House, taking steps every day toward better health. Our staff also arranged for Vanya to have his vision checked and provided him the prescription glasses he needed.
Many other children who moved with their families from Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv, receive essential medicine, medical care, psychological support, and eyeglasses. It is an honor and privilege to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual aid to the Jews of Ukraine. Together we save lives and restore hope.
