Viktorovych is 80 years old and suffers from complex chronic medical conditions that make it difficult for him to leave his house. For many years, his wife has been his primary support system, and she took care of most household matters.
This past winter everything changed when she slipped on some ice and suffered a severe back injury, requiring surgery. The elderly couple found themselves in a difficult situation: the woman who had cared for her husband for years was now bedridden herself.
Throughout the spring and summer, Viktorovych has been caring for his wife as she undergoes a long rehabilitation process; he continues to struggle with his own medical challenges as well. The prescription medications they require fill two large bags every month, at a cost that far exceeds their budget. When faced with the impossible choice of buying food or medicine, they reached out for assistance.
The ongoing crisis has made it increasingly difficult for families to manage the daily challenges and also care for the older generation. We were honored to be able to step in and support this couple who had no one to turn to for desperately needed aid. In addition to buying prescription medications, we have assisted Viktorovych as he nurses his wife back to good health while also attending to his own medical needs. Together we save lives and restore hope.
